Monofilament tests are used to screen for loss of protective sensation.  Sensory testing helps identify patients at risk for developing diabetic foot ulcers or foot injury.
American Diabetes Association recommends yearly comprehensive foot examinations, including 10-g monofilament testing.
Hand-crafted in New Orleans from Louisiana live oak wood.  This monofilament tester was designed to be functional and practical but also attractive.
Wood is sealed and can be cleaned with alcohol wipes or gentle germicidal solutions.  Replacement monofilaments are available for purchase.
